👋 Hello!

Allow me to tell you a bit more about myself, why I’m running, and what I hope to bring as your fresh voice on Parksville Council.

My post-secondary journey took me from Capilano University, to the University of Alberta, and finally UBC. I have a degree in law, which has given me a foundation in our political and legal institutions.

I’ve never practiced law. After graduation, I decided to invest my efforts into the marketing company I started while in University.

I continue to run this company to this day. We have a small work-from-home team, three of whom have been with us for over ten years.

My company has given me deep insight into a broad range of perspectives, industries, and organizations. It has taught me about budgets, payroll, managing a team, and collaborating with partners.

Working from home made it possible for my wife and me to move here in 2016 with our three young children.

We came here for the lifestyle, the friendly community, the natural beauty, and because it’s a great place to raise a family. …Also to have a small hobby farm thanks to my wife’s passion for agriculture and animals.

Since my family moved here this town has seen a lot of growth.

This growth requires careful management to ensure that the core services we all depend on don’t become overburdened.

I’ve been hearing concerns around healthcare, housing affordability, community safety and homelessness, and access to recreational programs and facilities.

My overall vision for Parksville is a healthy, balanced community where no matter your age, stage, or walk of life, you can thrive.

My priorities around this are

  • A proactive, persistent, but collaborative relationship with provincial and federal government partners
  • Creative and compassionate approaches to challenges like healthcare and homelessness
  • Applying a sustainability lens to all decision making – economic, environmental, and social
  • Modernizing our Official Community Plan
  • Ensuring our core services and amenities keep pace with community needs
  • Enhancing the lines of communication between council and the community

On October 15, I hope I can count on your vote.
