Did you know that Shelley Creek runs right through Parksville and is home to Coho salmon and Cutthroat trout?

Mid Vancouver Island Habitat Enhancement Society (MVIHES) is doing excellent work to improve the habitat for these aquatic members of our community.

I recently joined Councillor Beil, Councillor Wood, and City of Parksville staff on a tour hosted by the amazing volunteers from MVIHES.Parksville Council recently voted to support the installation of a flow meter which will help monitor the stream and build on the great work being done.

There’s a beautiful path and bridge accessible from Hamilton Road. Here you can see a riparian area that was thoughtfully preserved several years ago.
